SPRING AND SUMMER WORKSHOPS
Big fat flakes of snow have been been falling since well before dawn. It feels good to sit here looking out the window and thinking about getting back to papercreting. Thankfully we have a rather short winter here so it should be warm enough to work by March, but I’m not planning any official workshops until mid April when good weather is a sure thing. Here is how the schedule will work.
I plan to be out there working pretty much full time this summer so am very flexible on the dates. If your schedule doesn’t conform to this plan please get in touch with me and we’ll work something out.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON-EVENING
People arrive and get aquainted. Refreshments will be available.
FRIDAY
After a good breakfast we’re out to the project to get started. The tow mixer will be explained. I’ll show how blocks are formed and how the modified post and beam slip form method works. Then we’ll get to work and mix up some slurry. Lunch will be served and we’ll work through the afternoon.
We’ll be back at the base camp in plenty of time for eveyone to have a shower and a cocktail before dinner. Then we eat and socialize, have a question and answer period, share knowledge and experience.
SATURDAY
Pretty much the same as Friday
SUNDAY
We can continue with the papercrete or take some time to see some of the local sites. Abiquiu has beautiful scenery. The Ghost Ranch Museum with one of the oldest dinosaurs ever found, and right up the street there’s a mosque built under the direction of Nader Khalili. there are also many incredible hiking trails. We’ll have breakfast and lunch and dinner for any staying through the day.
TUITION
For the 4 days with meals and camping accommodations it’s $350
For any who want to come just for a day or two it’s $75 a day.
ACCOMMODATIONS
We have plenty of area for any who want to set up tents or campers and 3 full bathrooms.
If you are unable to sleep on the ground or can’t make the arrangements to camp we have a guest room (first come first served).
